Role Summary
We invite you to join us as a Technician in the Materials & Testing team during an exciting period of growth in The Rockwood Group. As explorers in the field of materials science, you will play a crucial role in delivering essential product test data for aerospace customer qualifications, product re-sites, problem resolution, and product development activities. This role involves engaging in composite/adhesive panel fabrication, machining, and mechanical testing of adhesive and composite materials, following various international or customer test standards. We offer comprehensive training for those new to this field, while candidates with a proven background in similar activities are especially encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrating and promoting strong adherence to safety.
- Composite/adhesive panel fabrication, machining and destructive mechanical testing of a broad range of composite and adhesive specimen types.
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out. Manage projects and project documentation to an externally auditable level.
- Other duties as required.
Person Specification / Knowledge & Experience
- Educated to an HNC/HND level in a relevant field. (preferred)
- Ability to comprehend technical writing, as found in customer specifications and other relevant documentation.
- Computer literate (experience with Excel & Word).
- Practical experience operating machining equipment, such as surface grinders and VMC.
- Experience with composite panel fabrication or using universal test machines.
- Knowledge of composite materials covering a range of matrix & reinforcement technologies.
- Three or more years working at an industrial/technology company.
- Experience of working in a team environment.
