MEET THE TEAM

MARK CROUCHEN

Managing Director

Mark is a recognised expert in composites with over 30 years’ experience in the industry, providing composites solutions into a wide range of industries including aerospace, defence, medical and nuclear.  He is an exceptional engineer whose early career with multinational organisations specialised in flight control and launch systems.  He is an entrepreneur with the rare combination of skills that enables him to build companies which can supply innovative but practical and cost-effective solutions to complex engineering problems and, having previously founded 2 successful companies (Carbon Design and C2 Composites), he established Rockwood Composites in 2010. 

KATHRYN CROUCHEN

New Leads Director

Kathryn graduated from the University of the West of England with a First-Class Honours in Forensic Science. During her time there, she worked part-time with Rockwood as a laminating technician and assisted with new product development. She joined Rockwood full-time in 2018 as Production Lead, in which role she used her skills gained to support the engineering team. After her competencies in SolidWorks CAD, PDM as well as the PC-DMIS laser scanning software grew, she moved up to Project Manager and became involved across all company projects in the development of component parts, mould tool design and the preparation of detailed engineering drawings, document control and PointCloud scanning. 
Kathryn took a sabbatical in 2022/3 to sail her boat over 10,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Caribbean and back.  

Now firmly back on dry land Kathryn has become a Director of Rockwood and is the point of call for all new enquiries and projects coming into to Rockwood. 

LUCY ROBSON

Finance Director
 

Lucy joined us in 2022 as Finance Manager, supporting the growing mission for Rockwood.  During a career of more than 25 years in the HR, Accounting & Finance Sector, with the last two decades in financial leadership roles, Lucy has acquired a wealth of experience in facilitating all aspects of financial planning, analysis, budgeting and risk management, helping to bridge the gap between our financial oversight and strategic business growth.  

A forward-looking approach has enabled Lucy to foster an environment of innovation and excellence in the Rockwood Finance Department, recently accepting the role as the new Finance Director. 

CRAIG HOLMES

Senior Production Engineer

Craig is a Senior Production Engineer with extensive experience in mechanical engineering. A time-served apprentice with an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship, he holds an HND in Mechanical Design and Manufacture from the University of Plymouth. Craig’s early career included working as an Engineering Technician at the University of Plymouth and teaching engineering apprentices at South Devon College.

In 2014, Craig moved into industry as Design and Product Manager at Dart Valley Systems, where he led product development in the commercial washroom sector. He joined Rockwood in 2022 as a Project Engineer, and in 2024, he was promoted to Design Office Lead. In his current role, Craig oversees engineering activities, managing projects from design to production, and working closely with customers and internal teams to ensure successful outcomes.

SILVAN ROBERTS

Sales and Procurement Manager

Silvan has always worked in customer-facing roles.  She started out in front-line sales, rising to team leader and account manager, working in a wide variety of industries.  Her responsibilities developed over time into wider customer service roles.  In 1999 she joined C2 Composites, initially in a sales role, but this grew into the full range of office duties including purchasing, accounts and administration.  Although not a technician, she has developed an in-depth knowledge of the composites industry.  C2 Composites transitioned into Rockwood Composites, and she is now responsible for all sales and procurement activities within Rockwood. 

MONIKA ZIENTEK

Operations and Systems Manager

Monika brings a wealth of experience in hospitality and management, having earned her master’s degree from a university in Poland and worked in the hotel industry for several years. After relocating to the UK, she transitioned into Account Management and Operations roles within property management and construction. In 2018, Monika moved to Devon, where she expanded her management expertise in the manufacturing industry, focusing on export, production planning, system management, and operations support.  

Early in 2024 Monika joined Rockwood as our Systems Manager, where she was instrumental in implementing and developing our new Manufacturing MRP System and her role quickly developed into Operations and Systems Manager, now playing a key role in coordinating all Rockwood’s Operations.

SAMI KHAN

International Operations Manager

With over a decade of experience in aerospace manufacturing, Sami has specialized in both casting operations and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) processes. As a Manufacturing Engineer in the aerospace castings sector, he developed expertise in casting techniques, EDM, CNC machining, CAD design, CAM programming, and international project management. Now, in his new role with The Rockwood Group, he is focusing on expanding the business into Morocco, introducing advanced manufacturing solutions to a new and growing composites market.

JON LAW

Facilities Manager

Jon has spent his whole career working within high-tech engineering starting as an engineering technician in military electronics before moving into the semiconductor market, where he gained valuable experience in TPM, lean and continuous improvement techniques. Progressing into the engineering management team. During this time, he has directly and indirectly overseen facilities management including installation, commissioning and facilities maintenance in a wide range of technologies and engineering.  Joining Rockwood in 2019, Jon now heads up the facilities team, ensuring we meet all our regulatory needs.

BRIAN IVEY

Quality Assurance Lead

Brian has over 25 years’ experience in various manufacturing industries. Starting in the electronics industry, his eye for detail and fastidious nature led him into quality, from AQL operator to chief inspector then quality engineer. From electronics he moved to precision engineering working in the automotive, aerospace, medical and hydraulic industries. He is also adept with all forms of metrology equipment, including programming and operating CMM’s. His breadth of experience across many quality systems gives him a wide knowledge which has proved invaluable to Rockwood since joining the team in 2019.

DERRYCK MORTON

Research and Development Manager

Derryck considers himself fortunate to have done his HNC level mechanical engineering apprenticeship with the Atomic Energy Research Establishment, which is widely considered to have been one of the best available.  Thereafter he worked as a machinist, programmer and designer with a precision engineering company which specialised in components for the Formula 1 and space exploration industries.  He joined C2 Composites as Engineering Manager in 2000 and then filled the same role within Rockwood from 2010.  He specialises in CNC programming and machining and, with over 40 years’ experience, has unrivalled expertise in problem solving, product design and production support which has led him into Rockwood’s Research and Development Manager role. 

DENIS RUS

Moulding Development Lead

Denis began his journey with Rockwood in 2018 as a Laminating Technician. His skills were quickly recognized, leading to his promotion to Production Lead. With an excellent aptitude for creativity, problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail, Denis now serves as the Moulding Development Lead. In this role, his primary focus is on creating and refining manufacturing procedures and assembly processes for new parts. 

Denis brings ingenuity and a practical approach to his role, ensuring that each project is set up for success by seamlessly coordinating the transfer of information between the Engineering and Production departments before parts enter full production.
